ISSA is an organisation established to spread knowledge about intersex, to provide the space for the development of an intersexed voice in Southern Africa, and to combat discrimination on grounds of intersex.
We Believe :
- Intersexed people are a natural variant and an important part of human diversity.
- The birth of an intersexed infant should be celebrated no less than the birth of any other infant.
- ALL diversity should be valued whether of race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, ability, geography and or socio-economic status.
- Intersex South Africa (ISSA) advocates, mediates and provides services for intersex people throughout South Africa. The objectives of ISSA are to advance intersexed people’s rights through national legislation and service provision for intersexed people and their families. ISSA is responsible for creating open-discussions and workshops on intersexuality for various organisations throughout South Africa.
